After a New Year’s madness, English football continues, but in a different form, with the FA Cup challenges coming our way. The oldest competition in the world reached the round of 32, and our preview here covers the matchup between Tottenham and Burnley. The Spurs want and need to finally win one trophy, and it seems that FA Cup is a realistic target. As for the Clarets, their primary goal is to stay in the Premiership and, if possible, create surprises in this competition.
Tottenham vs. Burnley Preview
The Spurs need to find some consistency, but that’s not entirely in their hands. The team from London is massacred with injuries this year, and honestly, they probably couldn’t do better than this. Tottenham is still in the race for the EPL title, although they do have a deficit behind Liverpool and other rivals.
Things are much more convenient in the FA Cup, and according to the statements ahead of this clash, Ange Postecoglu’s unit will go full speed against the Clarets.
Tottenham had three defeats in early November at home, but after that, it bounced back against Newcastle, 4-1, and Everton 2-1. Their meetings at the Tottenham Stadium are always efficient, and eight in the latest 10 were with three or more goals, and both teams scored.
The Clarets are already on the verge of being relegated. Their Premiership adventure isn’t going as planned because Burnley struggles heavily to gain any consistency.
Only two wins since the start of November is a perfect display of Burnley’s state. Those victories were against Sheffield United (by far the worst team in the EPL) and, after that, against Fulham on the road.
The offense is terrible, and we’ve seen the Clarets fail to score numerous times this year. Away from home, Burnley is equally poor in each area. Simply, they lack quality for the moment, and the future isn’t looking bright for this crew.

Tottenham vs. Burnley Head to Head
The first contest of the year between these units was at Turf Moore, where Tottenham blew away the Clarets 5-2. Son was fantastic, notching a hat-trick while demolishing the rivals throughout all 90 minutes. It was one of his best performances since the campaign began.
Tottenham vs. Burnley Predictions
The Spurs will have a few of their players back in training, but we aren’t so sure that all will be ready to play. Still, even if they aren’t complete, the hosts are massive favorites here, and they should triumph routinely.
