The clash of two undefeated teams closes the third round of the Spanish La Liga. Rayo won both of its events, and looks very good. To make it even better for the Little Thunderbolts, both of them were on the road, which boosted their morale ahead of this clash. Atletico has four points in two games, which isn’t bad, especially when we say they had to travel to Sevilla and play against Betis.
Rayo Vallecano vs. Atletico Madrid Preview
The hosts won with the same result in the opening two games, 0-2. The first triumph was in Almeria, while the second happened in Granada. Just a few expected to see Rayo pulling out this success because they didn’t have such an impressive preseason.
Rayo’s defense has been extremely solid in these games. We need to admit that neither Granada nor Almeria have some incredibly gifted attackers, but still, keeping two clean sheets in a row needs to be respected and credited.
Counting in the preparations and two La Liga contests, we see that the most frequent goal range of Rayo’s contests is 2 to 3, which is a moderate efficiency.
Simeone’s boys survived Betis, getting out a goalless draw on the road, in one more or less dull performance, typical for Atletico when appearing away from Wanda Metropolitan. We saw plenty of physical clashes in the midfield, several yellow cards, but no goals.
Atletico indicated during the preseason that they might play a bit more offensive than in the past year. The way Simeone’s crew opened the championship, beating Granada, 3-1, showed a slight change in their tactics. They aren’t slowing down when taking the lead like in the past, which is a new moment when talking about Atletico.
Of course, Simeone still prefers to see his team ruthless on both ends, especially in defense, so expect plenty of red and yellow cards this season as well.

Rayo Vallecano vs. Atletico Madrid Predictions
Rayo’s morale is at a high level, but we still believe they aren’t a better team than Atletico, who is going to edge them out in this contest. A better individual quality will prevail and the guests shall take all three points.
