Premier League Matchday 3 Preview – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent ALEX CROOK previews the weekend’s Premier League action with his recommended selections on starsports.bet. After 23/10 and 3/1 winners on the opening week of the Premier League season, Nottingham Forest to beat Sheffield United and Awoniyi to score at any time gave him a nice return at 2/1 to keep the winning strike going last weekend.

Once again I have focused on three matches to try and find some more profit, starting at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

⚽ CHELSEA v LUTON

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKET ⭐

I might be showing my age here, but this is a fixture that evokes memories of the 1994 FA Cup semi-final and the Kerry Dixon derby at Wembley.

It is also one that Chelsea simply HAVE to win after picking up just a single point from Mauricio Pochettino’s first two games in charge, a run that extends the Blues’ relegation form from last season.

However, I was at both the 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool and last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at West Ham and would argue neither scorline does Chelsea justice.

They are already a much-improved side under Pochettino and that is with Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia still to be integrated into the starting eleven.

They will definitely be too strong for a Luton side, who could have conceded eight in their opening day defeat at Brighton, and the one Chelsea player who has really caught my eye in those first two games is Raheem Sterling.

Sterling struggled to hit top gear last season, maybe due to all the off-field upheaval at Stamford Bridge but is clearly enjoying a new-found freedom to express himself under Pochettino.

I will be putting up Sterling to score at any time at 4/5 with starsports.bet as the first part of my weekend treble and also fancy a single on Sterling to score first at 14/5 with starsports.bet

⚽ BRENTFORD v CRYSTAL PALACE

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKET ⭐

Another Premier League weekend and another London derby for Brentford, their third in succession at the start of the season.

That should be music to the ears of Thomas Frank as his Bees side are now unbeaten in each of their last 11 all-capital clashes.

I came away from last weekend’s emphatic 3-0 win at Brentford believing the Bees can be surprise contenders for a European place this season, even without the services of the banned Ivan Toney until the New Year.

The way Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have stepped up to the plate in the absence of Toney ahs been really impressive, scoring all five of Brentford’s goals to this point.

Mbeumo to score at any time is 17/10 with starsports.bet, which, considering he is also the designated penalty taker, represents very decent value.

I also would not put anyone off backing Brentford to win at 1/1 with starsports.bet, especially considering how strong they are home having lost just twice in front of their own fans since the start of last season.

⚽ BRIGHTON v WEST HAM

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKET ⭐

West Ham have had a better start to the campaign than many of us expected in the wake of the departure of captain Declan Rice.

They travel to bogey team Brighton on Saturday bidding for their first ever Premier League win against the soaring Seagulls.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have picked up this season where they left off last and I sense the Italian believes his side can mound a very real challenge for the top four.

This will be a step up in quality of opponent having swept aside newly-promoted Luton and goal-shy Wolves so far, but I still fancy Brighton to emerge victorious and extend their Hammers hoodoo.

Karou Mitouma scored an early contender for goal of the season against Wolves and the Japanese international tends to find the net in batches.

West Ham have only kept one clean sheet in their last 10 Premier League games and even in victory last weekend afforded Chelsea 17 shots on goal.

Brighton have the attacking prowess to take advantage of those generosity levels and I like the look of Mitouma to score at any time at 7/4 with starsports.bet to complete my weekend treble.
