Premier League Gameweek 8 Preview – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent ALEX CROOK previews the weekend’s Premier League action with his recommended selections on starsports.bet including a BOOSTED treble.

Alex starts with Everton v Bournemouth…

🔵 EVERTON v BOURNEMOUTH 🍒

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

It is still relatively early in the season but this already feels like a massive match for both clubs.

Everton’s mini-revival was brought to a shuddering halt as they became the first team to lose to Luton last weekend while Bournemouth are on a club-record 11-game winless run dating back to last season.

Cherries fans have been patient with new manager Andoni Iraola, who is still looking for his first victory as a Premier League boss, mainly due to an extremely tough fixture list.

Bournemouth have faced five of the current top seven in their first seven games as well as a trip to Brentford and a 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea.

October is a critical month for the south coast side with the trip to Goodison Park followed by a visit from against Wolves and a trek to Burnley so Iraola knows he simply has to pick up points in those matches.

Goodison was once a 12th man for Everton, but Sean Dyche’s team have lost all four home games this season and have clocked up just one win on their own turf since mid-March.

I can see Bournemouth cashing in on a nervous atmosphere and coming away with a positive result. Former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke has been their main source of attacking inspiration under Iraola and Solanke to score first is 15/4 with starsports.bet

🔵 BRIGHTON v LIVERPOOL 🔴

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

As we will see a lot this season due to the number of Premier League sides playing in Europe on Thursday nights, the best of this weekend’s action comes on Sunday.

The Amex Stadium will be bouncing when Liverpool come to town with the Reds still publicly smarting the VAR furor that saw them lose 2-1 at Tottenham.

Was Jurgen Klopp serious when he suggested that game should be replayed or simply trying to ensure Liverpool benefit from more lenient treatment from referees in the future?

My money is on the latter and for that reason I like the look of Brighton to be the team with most bookings at 11/8 with starsports.bet

The Amex was not a happy hunting ground last season as they were well-beaten in the Premier League before losing there in the FA Cup soon afterwards.

However, Brighton appear to still be coming to terms with balancing competing in Europe with domestic ambitions so I think this game could come at a good time for Klopp’s boys.

Liverpool have made a habit of coming from behind this season so I will be backing both teams to score and Liverpool to win at 2/1 with starsports.bet while ex-Seagull Alexis Mac Allister, back on familiar soil makes up one leg of my price boosted anytime goalscorer treble, which turned a nice profit last week.

⚒️ WEST HAM v NEWCASTLE ⚫

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

One of the most intriguing games of the weekend comes from the London Stadium as surprise early-season high-fliers West Ham welcome a Newcastle outfit who are riding the crest of the Champions League wave.

Newcastle ran out easy winners in this fixture last season to leave many Hammers fans calling for the head of manager David Moyes.

Sunday’s game should be a lot closer with Manchester City and Liverpool the only sides to have got the better of Moyes’s men so far this term.

Newcastle were quite simply electric as they destroyed Paris St Germain 4-1 on a historic night on Wednesday, and, having badly misread the outcome of that game I am slightly reluctant to take them on again.

But that game is bound to have taken its toll both physically and mentally on a squad already hit by a number of injuries to key players to West Ham to win at 11/5 with starsports.bet looks a touch overpriced to me.

The Hammers themselves had a Thursday night trip to Germany to face Freiburg in the Europa League so a point would probably suit both managers.

For that reason, I will be backing the draw at 13/5 with starsports.bet
