Premier League Gameweek 7 Preview – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent ALEX CROOK previews the weekend’s Premier League action with his recommended selections on starsports.bet including a BOOSTED treble.

Alex starts with Bournemouth v Arsenal…

We had a near miss last week with the anytime goalscorer 28-1 treble falling just one short as Bukayo Saka and Ollie Watkins delivered, but Bryan Mbuemo fired a blank for Brentford.

Let’s hope this weekend we can go one better. There are plenty of potential bankers to help make-up the treble with Everton, West Ham and Newcastle all at home against the three newly-promoted sides, Luton, Sheffield United and Burnley respectively, who between them have clocked up just three points so far.

As you’ll have noticed from the fixture schedule this week there’s a certain other event going on! I’ll be keeping an eye on all the action from the Ryder Cup and am predicting Europe 16 USA 12 in the Star Sports tipping contest where you can win a £250 FREE BET – but get your entries in now as the free competition closes at 6.35 on Friday morning!

I’m also going to take a look at a couple of matches that I think offer us more value in terms of single bets.

🍒 BOURNEMOUTH v ARSENAL 🔴

It has been a tough start to Premier League life for Andoni Iraola, who is still waiting for his first Premier League victory.

Despite producing better performances than their overall record under Iraola suggests, The Cherries are also now winless in their last 10 league games dating back to last season.

A difficult run of early-season fixtures continues with the visit of unbeaten Arsenal so it is likely to get worse before it gets better for the south coast side.

Arsenal ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in this fixture last season but have struggled to put teams away of late, beating Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Everton by the odd goal and drawing at home to Fulham and, most recently, Tottenham.

Bukayo Saka was not fit for the mid-week EFL Cup clash at Brentford and the Gunners were already without injured duo Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli so their attack is looking a little threadbare.

While I’d expect Arsenal to win, I do not think it will be as comfortable as a year ago so I am going to play Draw (Bournemouth -1) at 13/2 with starsports.bet.

One of the issues the Cherries have struggled to solve under Andoni is their vulnerability when defending set pieces.

For that reason, Gabriel at 13/2 with starsports.bet to score at any time looks tempting.

⚪ TOTTENHAM v LIVERPOOL 🔴

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

The game of the weekend comes from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as fourth place in the Premier League table hosts second.

After coming from twice behind to claim a draw at north London rivals Arsenal last weekend, James Maddison claimed the days of Tottenham being ‘Spursy’ are well and truly over.

While Maddison may have gone early with his bold claim, it does feel like the Lillywhites are a different beast under Ange Postecoglu.

They have definitely shown plenty of character in their last two games to score twice in stoppage time to beat Sheffield United and to salvage a point at the Emirates Stadium.

Captain Son is clearly relishing his role as the main man up front following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich and he will pose big problems for a Liverpool backline still missing the injured Virgil van Dijk and with just one clean sheet to their name this season.

What they have lacked defensively Jurgen Klopp’s side have made up for going forward by scoring 15 goals in their first six games including nine in their last three.

That makes over 3.5 goals in the game at 20/21 with starsports.bet very appealing.

Spurs have already played out 2-2 draws this season and I am banking on a three-peat with the 2-2 draw at 9/1 with starsports.bet.

🔵 EVERTON v LUTON 🟠

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

It’s been a good week for Everton with the Toffees following up last weekend’s unexpected triumph at Brentford with victory at Aston Villa in the EFL Cup.

The key to Sean Dyche’s side moving away from relegation danger is surely keeping star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit.

Calvert-Lewin came off the bench to score the goal to seal the game at Brentford and followed up with a well-taken finish at Villa Park.

The England international will be relishing facing a Luton defence that have already moved into double figures in the goals conceded column.

I expect Everton to make it three wins in a week and Calvert-Lewin to score first is 15/4 with starsports.bet.
