talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent ALEX CROOK previews a brilliant weekend of Premier League football…

🟠 WOLVERHAMPTON V NOTTINGHAM FOREST 🔴
Premier League
Saturday, 15.00

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

There is every chance Nottingham Forest’s trip to Wolves will be manager Steve Cooper’s last stand if they fail to win.

Cooper is facing an uphill battle to save his job in the wake of Wednesday’s dismal 5-0 thrashing at Fulham amid reports of issues behind the scenes with senior players.

Unfortunately for Cooper, who admitted he was ‘embarrassed’ by events at Craven Cottage, that defeat was by no means a one off and Forest have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games, albeit against surprise high-fliers Aston Villa.

Their away form dating back to the start of last season has been lamentable and with notoriously impatient owner Evangelos Marinakis sharpening his knife Cooper will not relish a trip to Molineux, where Wolves are unbeaten in five.

That impressive run has included wins over Manchester City and Tottenham and draws with Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Only Erling Haaland, Mo Salah and Son have scored more Premier League goals this season than Wanderers’ Hwang Hee-Chan and the Korean is particularly prolific on home turf.

A build-a-bet of Wolves to win and Hwang to score the first goal is 5/1 with starsports.bet.

🟣 ASTON VILLA V ARSENAL 🔴
Premier League
Saturday, 17.30

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

Arsenal’s title credentials will be put to the test when they travel to bang in-form Aston Villa on Saturday tea time.

The Villains are unbeaten in 14 at home and played champions Manchester City off the Villa Park pitch during Wednesday’s 1-0 win, which flattered Pep Guardiola’s side.

Victory for the hosts would not only help Unai Emery get one over his old side but would take them to within a point of the table-topping Gunners.

Arsenal have not been at their best in recent away games, leaving it late to beat both Brentford and Luton so will need to raise their standards here, but Villa used up a lot of energy in toppling City in mid-week.

Ollie Watkins has an excellent scoring record against Arsenal, with four goals in six appearances so Villa’s main marksman will be part of my anytime scorer weekend treble.

With that in mind I’m leaning towards a score draw at 10/3 with starsports.bet

⚪️ TOTTENHAM V NEWCASTLE ⚫️
Premier League
Sunday, 16.30

⭐ STARSPORTS.BET MATCH MARKETS ⭐

This is a huge game in the context of the top four race and both teams come into this one on the back of deflating mid-week defeats.

For the fourth time in five games Spurs managed to take the lead and lose as they went down 2-1 at home to London rivals West Ham while Newcastle were punished for a string of defensive mistakes with a 3-0 mauling at Everton.

The Magpies’ away form is starting to become a cause for concern for manager Eddie Howe with four of their five Premier League defeats this season coming on the road.

Meanwhile their crippling injury list appeared to catch up with them at Goodison Park and the fact the same eleven players have had to play every minute of the last four games has clearly taken its toll.

Despite the fact they are five games without a victory, Tottenham’s performances have been of a decent level and they could have been 4-0 up before Aston Villa’s comeback victory in their last home game.

I can see Ange Postecoglu’s team having too much energy for the weary Magpies so the play for me is Tottenham to win at 23/20 with starsports.bet.

Good luck,

ALEX CROOK
