Champions League football returns to St James’ Park on Wednesday night as Newcastle United take on French giants PSG in their second group game.
It has been a long time coming, 20 years to be exact, but the famous Champions League anthem will be played at St James’ Park once more – and what a challenge to be welcomed back with.
PSG, one of the richest clubs in the world, spearheaded in attack by Europe’s golden boy Kylian Mbappe, will provide an incredibly stern test for Eddie Howe’s side but the Magpies are coming into it in good form and with momentum.
A couple of weeks ago, they thrashed Sheffield United 8-0 at Bramall Lane and backed that up on Saturday with a comfortable 2-0 victory over fellow promoted side Burnley.

First competitive meeting between two sides
PSG haven’t enjoyed the best of starts in Ligue 1. Despite many predicting them to walk away with the title as usual, Luis Enrique’s side sit in fifth-place after their opening seven matches.
In their most recent league outing, they were held to a frustrating goalless draw to Clermont Foot with the likes of Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani unable to find a way through at the Parc des Princes.
They did get off to a winning start in the Champions League, though, with goals from Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi securing a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. They will be looking to continue that on Wednesday night.
⭐ NEWCASTLE v PSG STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐
Despite their slightly rocky start to the season, I still think, with the quality that they possess and their experience on the big stage compared to their opponents, that PSG should come through this one with the win. I am backing PSG to win at 15/8 with starsports.bet.
