The Red made an incredible comeback in Newcastle, beating the hosts and creating massive momentum before this event. Jurgen Klopp’s boys showed again that their attack is one of the best in the world without any doubts. On the other side, the Villans, too, earned the victory on the road, extending their stretch of excellent performances. Unai Emery’s unit looks like a true contender for one of the places that lead to the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool vs. Aston Villa Preview
Darwin Nunez netted a brace in the final minutes of the game at St. James’ Park, turning the tables on the field and securing his Reds a 1-2 triumph. On both occasions, Nunez stormed down the right side, entering the box and blasting the ball past Nick Pope.
What makes this victory more valuable for the Reds is the fact that this team had a player fewer on the field for more than an hour after Van Dijk’s red card in the first half. Yet, instead of collapsing, Klopp’s boys showed fighting spirit.
As usual, Liverpool’s games include goals on both ends, and all three so far in the Premiership have seen that. The efficiency is high, and when we count in the preseason, seven of eight were with three or more goals.
We’ve stated earlier that Unai Emery has high ambitions with Villa. The team opened a championship with a 1-5 loss in Newcastle, but that didn’t change our opinion of the team from Birmingham.
After that failure at St. James’, we’ve seen the former European champs winning three games in a row, scoring 12 goals during the span while allowing only one. One after another, the Villains have beaten Everton at home, 4-0, then Hibernian in the UEFA Conference League, 0-5 on the road, and at last, Burnley, 1-3 at Turf Moor.
This unit is very flamboyant, having an offensive-minded approach to the game and developing their game as the match goes on.

Liverpool vs. Aston Villa Head to Head Games
In the 2022/23 season, these teams played two games. The first was at Villa Park, where Liverpool won 1-3. After that, the Reds hosted Aston Villa in May, and that event saw a tie, 1-1.
Liverpool vs. Aston Villa Predictions
Liverpool’s defense is shaky even with Van Dijk in the lineup, and without him, we expect to see it concede at least one goal. On the other side, the Reds’ attack is merciless. If Nunez finally catches his old form, they could be devastating for any rival in the world. Even though we firmly believe in L’Pool’s win here, we are going with both teams netting.
Our verdict: Both teams to score
