The controversy surrounding last weekend’s VAR debacle against Spurs is still yet to die down with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp calling for a replay on Wednesday, but attention must now switch to the Europa League with the Reds taking on Union Saint Gilloise on Thursday.
Liverpool will have to pick themselves up from that incredible – and highly controversial – game against Spurs at the weekend which saw them hang on for a long while with nine men before Joel Matip put through his own net in the dying seconds to hand Ange Postecoglou’s men a 2-1 victory.
It is highly unlikely that, as Klopp requests, that Liverpool will be granted a replay so they must move on and face their second Europa League group game against Union Saint-Gilloise; hoping to get back to winning ways.
Klopp will likely shuffle the pack a little bit with there sure to be some tired legs amongst his squad, especially after such a draining match at the weekend, and that may provide opportunities to the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Ryan Gravenberch, Waturu Endo and Harvey Elliott.

First competitive meeting between two sides
In their opening Europa League group match two weeks ago, Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise fought back from a goal down to pick up a useful point against Toulouse.
They have made an impressive start to their league campaign as well with the Belgian side sitting at the top of the Belgian Pro League with six wins, one draw and two defeats from their opening nine fixtures.

This will be an enormous test for them, though, as they take on a strong Liverpool side and I think it will be a test too far. At 6/5 with starsports.bet, I like the look of a home win to nil.
