Liverpool may not have planned for Europa League football this season, but they make a return to the competition after seven seasons and they’re expected to make a winning start to their campaign at LASK in Austria on Thursday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have eyes on bigger targets this season but there’s no doubting their pedigree and they have strong ante-post credentials as 3/1 favourites to lift the trophy with starsports.bet. We’re likely to see plenty of changes from Jurgen Klopp – including for their first game here – but there’s plenty of depth through the side after a pretty active transfer window.
Liverpool’s substitutes bench against Wolves – which played a key part in their 3-1 win – consisted of Wataru Endo, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Ryan Gravenberch, Stefan Bajcetic and Caoimhin Kelleher, all players more than capable of making an impact at this level should he ring the changes here.

UEFA Europa League

(Maximum 10 games)
First competitive meeting between sides
LASK, third in the Austrian Bundesliga last season, are beginning to build a nice European pedigree – they reached the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League and were eliminated at the last 16 stage of this competition by Manchester United in 2020.
Thomas Sageder’s side are in solid form domestically, recovering from a slow domestic start to win four of their last five domestic games, whilst they haven’t lost a home game since May. The Reds will also need to keep an eye out on strikers Elias Havel to score anytime and Robert Zulj (to score anytime) along with midfielder Sacha Hovarth, who pulls the strings in the centre of the park.
This is a major step up in class for them, however – they were nine points behind Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga last season – and whilst one can expect a spirited display, Liverpool’s class should allow them to make a comprehensive winning start. Liverpool could have enough firepower to beat a one goal handicap at 10/11 with starsports.bet
Those looking in the player markets might consider Darwin Nunez to score or assist anytime at
with starsports.bet. Nunez has looked razor sharp when making appearances from the bench domestically and this could be a good chance for him to get some game time ahead of the Reds’ visit to West Ham this weekend.
