Fulham v Chelsea – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

In an all-London affair at Craven Cottage on Monday night, Fulham take on struggling Chelsea in the Premier League.

It has been a mixed bag of results for Fulham so far this season – winning two, drawing two and losing two of their opening six fixtures – but do come into this game having collected four points from their last couple of Premier League outings.

In their most recent Premier League encounter, the Cottagers were held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace.

In their mid-week cup match against Norwich City, which Fulham won 2-1 thanks to goals from Carlos Vinicius and Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey suffered a back injury which may rule him out of this London derby.

Chelsea have had a wretched start to the campaign. With just one win from their first six fixtures – the Blues’ worst start to a top-flight season since 1978-79 – it is really not the start that Mauricio Pochettino would have wished for at Stamford Bridge.

It was always going to be a process to unpick the mess of last season, but Chelsea will still have hoped for a better start to this season and a still look a million miles away from the side that won the Champions League just three years ago.

Injuries haven’t helped their situation, though, and Chelsea’s physios have been working around the clock this season to deal with an extraordinary list of names on the treatment table which just seems to be growing with every passing game.

That said, Chelsea need to improve quickly and Pochettino’s side will want this to be the game that things turn around after city rivals Fulham picked up four points against them last season.

It is difficult to back either of these sides with any certainty heading into this match and that’s why, at 12/5 with starsports.bet, I would advise to sit on the fence a little bit and back a draw.
