England v Australia – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

Prior to resuming their quest for EURO 2024 qualification, Gareth Southgate’s England take on Australia for the first time in seven years in an international friendly match at Wembley Stadium on Friday night.

In their last outing, England defeated old rivals Scotland with Jude Bellingham playing a starring role in a reasonably comfortable 3-1 victory for Southgate’s side.

That will have helped lift morale slightly with the win coming just a few days after the Three Lions were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Ukraine with a Kyle Walker equaliser in the 41st-minute salvaging a point from a fairly flat performance.

One of the players looking to make a big impression during this international break is Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins who is in flying form in the Premier League and has returned to the squad after Southgate watched him bag a hat-trick against Brighton & Hove Albion recently.

Australia have not beaten England – in men’s football anyway – for 20 years and will be aiming to pull off an almighty upset on Friday night at Wembley Stadium.

In their most recent outing, the Aussies produced a very solid performance against Mexico in an international friendly and managed to hold them to a 2-2 draw in Texas thanks to goals from Harry Souttar and Martin Boyle.

⭐ ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐

As much as I think Australia will come to try and disrupt England and make life difficult for them on Friday night, I do think that Southgate’s side have the necessary quality to overcome them.

They only have one clean sheet in their last five, though, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see Australia get on the score-sheet. That makes a bet of England to win and both teams to score very appealing at 21/10 with starsports.bet.
