Crystal Palace v Everton – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

Roy Hodgson will be aiming to relieve some of the pressure that has been mounting on his shoulders in recent weeks when his Crystal Palace side face Everton in the FA Cup Third Round on Thursday.

With rumours swirling that Hodgson might be replaced, which have only intensified since former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper became available, Palace’s 3-1 win against Brentford last weekend would have been very welcome for the Eagles’ under-fire boss.

A brace from Michael Olise and another from Eberechi Eze, two players who are going to be so vital if Palace are going to turn their underwhelming season around, secured the three points at Selhurst Park last week and lifted the Eagles into 13th-place in the Premier League.

Hodgson may perhaps have rathered another league game to try and continue that form, but instead, the focus must now switch to the FA Cup. Although the league will unquestionably be the priority for Palace, another win would certainly do Hodgson no harm.

Despite the 10-point deduction they suffered earlier in the campaign, Everton have enjoyed a decent season under Sean Dyche and look on course to survive in the Premier League for another season.

Over the course of their last 10 Premier League fixtures, Everton have picked up a respectable five wins which has already dragged them out of the bottom-three.

That points deduction will likely prevent them from causing too much of a splash higher up the table and that is why Dyche will be keen for his side to give the fans something to shout about in cup competitions.

And that is why I fancy Everton to pick up the result here and progress through to the next round, which I am backing with starsports.bet at an appealing price of 7/4.
