Cheltenham Friday – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

I’ve three rides on the first day of Cheltenham’s two-day Showcase meeting.

They seem to have faired pretty well with the weather compared to elsewhere in the country and we should be on lovely good to soft ground.

2.10pm WALK IN CLOVER – Novices’ Chase ⭐ STAR PRICES ⭐

Only the four in the novice chase where we run Walk In Clover (pictured with me below).

She has a lot to find on figures, but we are hopeful that she can pick up some nice prize money.

That’s the main reason we are taking our chance here coupled with the fact that she has gone well at the track before winning here back in April.

3.55pm WILLIETHEBUILDER – Sky Bet Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) ⭐ STAR PRICES ⭐

Williethebuilder takes his chance in the Grade 2 novice hurdle having won impressively at Uttoxeter.

Obviously, this is a big step up in class, but he is fit and well.

The track should be no bother to him and I like the fact that he has a good brain – that counts for a lot at Cheltenham.

We are hopeful of a good run and this will tell us where we stand with him.

It does look a really competitive race though as you’d expect for the Grade.

5.05pm ROCKY MAN – Abu Dhabi Digital Markets Handicap Hurdle ⭐ STAR PRICES ⭐

My final ride of the day is Rocky Man in the closing handicap hurdle.

He did well for us last year on his first couple of runs and then went slightly off the boil.

That may have been because we ran him back too quickly and hopefully he can bounce back.

He’s done really well at home and has done loads of work.

I’m just hoping that there is enough dig in the ground for him – it seems to suit him.

Here’s hoping for nice good to soft ground and, if that’s the case, he should go well.
