Cameroon and Guinea being their Africa Cup of Nations adventure at Konan Banny Stadium in the first round of the most significant African competition. The Lions came to this tournament as one of the favorites for the title, though they are not the biggest. But that’s something that only boosted their ambitions. Meanwhile, Guinea has a solid team and is up for some surprises. They are coming to Ivory Coast without any pressure, yet with big potential.
Cameroon vs. Guinea Preview
The Lions failed to win the trophy in front of their own crowd, but this time, they don’t have the pressure of the public, which could be beneficial. We saw that at the World Cup some 14 months ago when they barely missed a knockout stage.
Cameroon has a very interesting and experienced team, with Vincent Aboubakar leading the way upfront and Manchester United’s Andre Onana in front of the goal. Though, a very tough and physical midfield is the driving force of the unit.
When playing away from home, Cameroon’s games are inefficient, with the previous three ending with under 2.5 hits. This especially applies to competitive matches.
The Guinean unit was ousted in the first knockout stage at the previous Africa Cup of Nations. They would like to take at least one step further this time, though the draw wasn’t very good to them. Yet, despite that, they come to the Ivory Coast full of confidence after beating Nigeria in the last test before the AFCON.
It was 2-0 for Guinea against the Super Eagles, which was their third win in the last six events, with two ties and one loss. It seems that the National Elephants timed the form for this competition.
Serhou Guirassy, who is one of the best strikers in Germany, and Naby Keita, a Liverpool and RB Leipzig former midfielder, are two of the biggest stars in the Guinean national team. What we noticed is that all the players are in their best years, between 25 and 30.

Cameroon vs. Guinea Head to Head Games
The previous clash was in 2021, at the African Nations Championship, and the Guineans were better back then, winning 2-0. Over the previous three events, they managed to post two wins and one tie.
Cameroon vs. Guinea Predictions
Both teams are very physical and have little creativity. It’s why we believe that this game won’t see too many goals. Additionally, this is the opening meeting at the AFCON for either unit; therefore, under 2.5 hits is the final pick.
Our verdict: Under 2.5 goals
