Bristol City v Leeds – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

Leeds United will be looking to climb themselves into the Championship top-two on Friday night when they make the trip to Ashton Gate to lock horns with Bristol City.

Bristol City have been of a cup team than a league side this season, knocking West Ham out of the FA Cup and holding fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest to a goalless draw, but have flattered to deceive in their Championship campaign.

As things stand, City sit in 13th-position in the table and are without a win in their last five Championship fixtures; drawing three and losing two.

The Robins are still going through a transitional period with Liam Manning, who is looking to implement a high-press, possession-based style, taking over from Nigel Pearson in November.

But this run can’t continue for much longer and they will be looking to get back to winning ways on Friday night.

Buoyed by the deadline day signing of Burnley full-back Connor Roberts, Leeds will be looking to five wins in a row when they make the trip down to the South West on Friday night.

They also have the opportunity, for the first time in their push for promotion, to leapfrog Ipswich Town and Southampton into the automatic promotion places.

Leeds will have to make do without Pascal Struijk and Stuart Dallas, who remain sidelined through injury, but the likes of Archie Gray, Dan James and Patrick Bamford – who were rested for their FA Cup match against Plymouth – should all return.

Since the turn of the year, Leeds have found some much-needed defensive solidity – only conceding one goal so far in 2024 – and I can see them continuing that run against a stuttering Bristol City side.

At 9/5 with, a Leeds win to nil looks appealing here.
