Where: Signal-Iduna Park, Dortmund, GermanyWhen: Friday, October 20, 8:30 pm ET
The Bundesliga continues with a game in Dortmund, where Borussia opens the weekend against Werder Bremen. These two teams have a considerable fanbase in Germany, so for many, this is the event of the round. Dortmund is fourth in the standings, while Werder sits in the lower part of the table, not having a great time since the year started. Hosts are big favorites, but that often doesn’t mean anything in German football.
Borussia Dortmund vs. Werder Bremen Preview
The Millionaires haven’t lost in the Bundesliga this year, posting five wins and two draws in the recent seven events. They’ve scored 16 goals and allowed 8. The only loss in ten games across all the competitions was against PSG on the road, 2-0.
Borussia’s defense is much better at home than on the road, because they couldn’t keep a single clean sheet away from Signal Iduna Park, while on the other hand, they have three at home, two in the Bundesliga, and one in the Champions League.
Their record in domestic contests, that is, Bundesliga, is three wins and a tie, with an 8-4 goal difference. As stated, they are far better at home than on the road.
The team from Bremen is exciting to watch. In seven of their events this year, we’ve seen 29 goals in total, which is fantastic, slightly more than four per event. Only one of their eight competitive games since the start of the season went under 2.5 hits.
Now, even though they play interesting football, they aren’t effective because Werder lost five Bundesliga matches, recording only two victories, and also suffered an elimination from the DFB Pokal.
Their defense usually falls apart on the road. Four allowed goals in each of the past two road trips, 12 in four away encounters this year, are a clear sign that River Islanders have problems in the back line.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Werder Bremen Head to Head
Borussia won four of the past five direct encounters, scoring at least twice in each of these events. Last season, we saw Bremen triumphing in Dortmund, 2-3, but the Millionaires have responded, beating Werder in Bremen, 0-2.
Borussia Dortmund vs. Werder Bremen Predictions
The hosts are big favorites because of not only the home-field edge, but also the fact that Werder tends to play pretty poor on the road. Dortmund’s diverse offense, Brandt, Mallen, Reus, etc, should be able to score a couple of goals and make this a routine victory for their gang.
Our verdict: Borussia wins
