BMW Championship – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

A good effort from Max Homa saw him grab a place result for us last week.

In fact, all four of our selections played well at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and all advanced to the second round of the FedEx Cup – the BMW Championship.

The field has now shrunk from 70 last week to the top 50 money earners for the season so far.

The BMW Championship will be held at Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago. Olympia Fields has only hosted one PGA Tournament in the last 20 years, so course form is a little light on the ground. What is obvious though is that this will be a stern test. A 7,366 yard par 70 course is no joke and apparently the rough will be a shoe swallowing four inches.

Again this week the cut is out of play in this reduced field, so hold all tickets even if you are a little tardy out of the traps.

Blue Horseshoe Loves:

This is a fantastic price for a player bang in form in a fifty-man field! Hodges was hovering around the top of the leaderboard after the first two rounds last week and was only let down by a shoddy 3rd round. Importantly, Hodges picked himself up and had a solid final round which ensured his advancement via a 36th ranking on the money list. I think his game still looks in great shape after his recent maiden PGA Tour win and he looks outstanding each way value for me here. Get on.

I can’t desert Max after running a highly creditable place for us a last week. He went close to the win and his swing looks as smooth as butter. This course demands accuracy off the tee to keep it out of that U.S. Open type rough and when Homa is swinging it the way he is now there are few straighter from the tee boxes, he also has bags of length which will help around here. Max’s price has barely moved since that very solid display last week and that’s good enough for me to go again.

Cam Davis – Currently

Davis came home with a wet sail last week, shooting a three under final round to finish in a tie for sixth. The lanky young Aussie has a touch of class about his game and he’s one of the longest drivers on tour. If this course makes it a battle of the power hitters, I’ll take Davis for his each way value and his notable form late last week.

Eric Cole – Currently at

While this long set up might not quite suit the diminutive Cole, his accuracy and good ball striking game might stand to him. He’s been there and thereabouts all season and the fact that he’s even here in the top fifty money earners for the season without a PGA Tour win yet shows just how consistent he has been all season. He looks a nice price for each way value.
