Aston Villa v Man Utd – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

Fifth meets sixth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Aston Villa lock horns with Manchester United at Villa Park in what should be an intriguing clash.

Villa have enjoyed a very strong season under Unai Emery; currently sitting in fifth-place in the Premier League and just one point off the Champions League places.

In their last outing, they recovered emphatically from a disappointing defeat to Newcastle United the week prior with a thumping 5-0 victory over a hapless Sheffield United side thanks to goals from John McGinn, Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey, Youri Tielemans and Alex Moreno.

A victory here would send them back into the top-four and significantly boost their Champions League dreams whilst also sending a statement to the rest of the league that they mean business.

But can they get it?

This has been a testing campaign for Manchester United. As things stand, a place in the Champions League looks very unlikely, but a win on Sunday would boost their chances of grabbing a fifth-place finish.

The Red Devils find themselves on a decent run of form and they impressed in their most recent Premier League fixture; a 3-0 win against David Moyes’ West Ham United thanks to an Alejandro Garnacho brace and a first-half strike from Rasmus Hojlund.

They will be looking to build on that now, and continue that momentum, but Villa Park has not been an easy place to go for many sides in the Premier League this season.

However, with the form that United have been in since getting a number of key players back from injury, I can see Erik Ten Hag’s side coming away with something here. And at 2/1 with, a United win looks too good to turn down for me.
