Are Aston Villa in a title race?
That question is beginning to be asked after their 1-0 victory over Manchester City in mid-week and we may be closer to finding out the answer on Saturday when they take on table-topping Arsenal at Villa Park.
Unai Emery’s side have been mightily impressive this season, but that win over Manchester City was their most eye-catching result of the season; changing the conversation from ‘could Aston Villa finish in the top-four?’ to… ‘could they actually win the title?’
Some might say that is still a bit of a stretch, but the Villains will certainly make things interesting if they keep playing as they are.
If they can overcome Arsenal on Saturday, Emery’s men would close the gap on Arsenal at the top of the table to just one point and extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

Arsenal were very good last season but, whisper this quietly, they seem like a different beast this term and their title credentials feel much stronger and more legitimate.
Of course, they have been given a helping hand by Manchester City’s early season struggles, but the Gunners have started this season very strongly and seem to be finding ways to win when they’re not at their best – like they did against Luton Town – and that is a key ingredient of a successful side.
There is a long way to go in this season, and Arsenal must keep their feet on the ground, but it does feel like something special might be brewing at the Emirates Stadium.

However, this will be a tough game for them as I don’t think any team will be looking forward to a trip to Villa Park this season. In fact, with both of these sides in excellent form, I find it hard to separate them. I am backing a draw at 5/2 with starsports.bet.
