After defeating the Dutch giants in the first meeting between the two sides last month, Brighton will be looking to do it again when they travel to Ajax on Thursday night for a pivotal Europa League clash.
Ajax were in a complete mess, and bottom of the Eredivisie, when they faced Brighton last month but – although they are still nowhere near where they would like to be – their fortunes have turned around a fair bit in that time.
Following a 5-2 defeat to PSV in new caretaker boss John van ‘t Schip’s first game in charge, Ajax have now won back-to-back matches in the Dutch top-flight; a 2-0 win over FC Volendam and a 4-1 win over Heerenveen.

Goals from Joao Pedro and Ansu Fati secured all three points for the Seagulls the last time these two teams met and will be keen to do it again at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Thursday night.
It will be a tougher task this time with Ajax improving and the Seagulls’ recent Premier League form hasn’t been great, though, with Roberto De Zerbi’s men failing any of their last five league games.
In their most recent outing, they battled back from a goal down against Sean Dyche’s Everton to snatch a 1-1 draw thanks to a late own-goal from veteran defender Ashley Young.
⭐ AJAX v BRIGHTON STARSPORTS.BET MARKETS ⭐
With Ajax getting their act together over the last couple of weeks, I expect their quality to shine through here; especially with the home advantage. For that reason, I am backing Ajax to win at 3/1 with starsports.bet.
Chuba Akpom, a summer signing from Middlesbrough, has recently been brought into the side and scored three goals in his last two appearances. At 17/10 with starsports.bet, Akpom to score anytime looks appealing.
