AFC Wimbledon v Ramsgate – Football & Racing News – Star Sports

Non-league Ramsgate will be looking to pull off the shock of the round as they face League Two side AFC Wimbledon in the second stage of the FA Cup on Monday night.

AFC Wimbledon endured a difficult first season back in the fourth-tier last term, and many expected manager Johnnie Jackson to lose his job as a result, but the Dons stick by their boss and things are looking slightly brighter this season.

After 19 games, Jackson’s side find themselves in 10th-place and just three points outside the play-off positions at the time of writing.

After losing their last league match to Gillingham, they will be looking to get back to winning ways but also must be wary of a potential cup upset.

First meeting between two sides

Despite it only being the second round proper of the competition, Ramsgate have had to work their way through all the preliminary rounds and Monday’s clash will be their seventh game since commencing their FA Cup campaign in August.

In the first round, they caused an almighty shock by knocking National League side Woking out of the competition with a 2-1 victory at the Southwood Stadium. They will be looking to go one better this time.

As much as we all love the ‘magic’ of the FA Cup, and you can never discount a surprising upset in this competition, it is hard to look beyond AFC Wimbledon sailing into the third round without too much fuss. I am backing them to win to nil at 9/10 with
