Death and Dying

Death of the Saints

Saved Christians do not fear the death of the body. They look forward to going to be with God and their loved ones.  For the saved Christian, the death of the body is not a terrible or depressing thing.  The saved Christian has the promises of his/her rewards and life in the ever after. When a saved Christian leaves his body behind, he is gathered and taken away unto his own people.

1Thessalonians 4:14
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Revelation 14:13
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Hebrews 11:13
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Isaiah 57:1
The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none
considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him
which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

 Death of the Wicked

When the wicked (un-saved) man dies, it is a death of hopelessness. The un-saved usually do not look forward to death. For them it is a time of uncertainty and fear, as they prepare to go into eternity not knowing and unprepared.
