The Gospel: How and Why to be Saved

The way God intends...

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,  and thy house.

In order to be saved, we must believe on Jesus Christ and His gospel.
Being a good citizen will not save you, going to church will not save you,
you cannot help enough little old ladies across the street to be saved.
Kissing the toe of a statue will not save you, nor will doing a bunch of
"religious" stuff save you. Multitudes of people practice "religion" and
sit in church all of their lives and are as lost as lost can be.

~ Being saved is not about "religion" ~

God is not interested in "religion".  This is because God does
love us and does desire to have a relationship with us.
"Religion" is a bunch of rules and works that people think
they can do to please this Holy Creator.  But what God is
truly interested in is you being saved into eternity.

~ We are here for a very short time ~

Our lives here on Earth, in our fleshly bodies is but a flash in the pan,
a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow.  We have a very short time
in which we must choose our eternal destiny.  We can choose to love
God and have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, or we can
choose to ignore God's plan of salvation for us. Either way, our life
in the flesh will come and go, but our eternally living soul will continue
on in eternity. Where you spend eternity is up to you.

~ God is Holy ~

God is Holy and perfect, living outside of time and space as we know it.
Because of God's Holy nature, He cannot and will not tolerate sin.
Because of that sinful state which all of humanity is caught in, we
are but lowly sinners in the eyes of this Holy Creator.

God tells us...
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

But God has made a way for us to be reconciled to Him...
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while
we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Yes, you are a sinner, so am I, so are we all.  But God knowing this
has provided a way for us to be saved.

Jesus Christ left behind His Godly form, willingly came to live among us in a fleshly body as a man.  He was scoffed at, hated, whipped & beaten, persecuted and finally taken to be executed by hanging on a cross.
He suffered and died to cover YOUR sins. Because of what He did for
you, and for me, our sin debt before God is paid in full.  All we have to
do is except the free gift.

Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Because of the righteousness of Jesus, if we accept His gift of salvation, we are considered Justified by God.  This is why being good, and why practicing "religion" and why going to church cannot save you, because someone very special died to save you, and nothing more and nothing less
than accepting that sacrifice for you will save you.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God:  9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

~ You Must Choose ~

QUESTION... What then, will you do about God?
God is there, He was there before we were. God is not going to politely just go away.  The fact is that He knows you already, though you may not know Him, and He is gracefully awaiting your decision.  You are now confronted with a decision. God says you are a sinner and stand condemned and dead in your trespasses and sins if you have not received His free gift of salvation. God says that you will not stand in His presence if you reject the blood of Jesus which was shed for you.
Much worse, God has made it so easy for you to be saved, in that you need only believe on Him (Jesus) in order to be saved. You see, Jesus was the all time ultimate sacrifice for your sins. All the work for being saved has been done for you! The blank check has been written and signed for you. Death, Hell and the grave, and yes satan himself and his entourage of demonic forces were defeated on that day that Jesus went to the cross.  His blood is on our hands so how can we ignore His sacrifice for us and stand before Him?  God warns...
 Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

No, there is no getting away from Jesus Christ.  You are either for Him or you are against Him.  You are either His friend or His enemy, He is either your Savior or your Judge.  There is no middle ground to stand on.

~ "Well I'm not even sure I believe all this stuff!!!" ~

God did not expect us to believe on blind faith alone. Therefore, God has done some things for us so that we would KNOW with certainty that He is who He says He is and that what He says can be taken literally... Click Here to find out what God has done

More on Salvation in other words...

The gospel of Christ is simple belief. Not any work you can do,
not being good, not changing yourself. Not even saying a prayer.
Simply believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. If you
believe in Jesus' gospel of salvation and in Him, then you are saved.
It is that simple. Read on..

Our greatest desire is for people to come to know God personally.

The simple truth is that there is a God who created you and loves you very much. (Genesis 1:1) He gave us life and deserves our gratitude and love.

We, however, have chosen to disobey Him and sin against Him; all of us have done wrong and failed to do what is right. (Romans 3:23) We may not be more sinful than our neighbor, or we may be far worse than anyone we know, it does not matter. Either way, we are guilty before God. (1 John 1:8)

God is perfect, completely good, always right and fair. He cannot tolerate sin. He cannot simply overlook the fact that we have chosen to disobey Him. The Bible says "the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) This means that the fair payment for our rebellion against God is death. It is the punishment that we deserve.

Jesus, the one and only Son of God, came to earth and lived a perfect sinless life. He was crucified even though He was completely innocent. He received the punishment that we deserved. He was the perfect sacrifice, He was put into our place and took on Himself the sentence of death that should have been ours. (Romans 5:8)

Jesus did not, however, remain dead. After three days, He rose from the grave and later ascended into heaven. He will return for all those who are trusting in Him as their  Savior.

Jesus died for you. Only the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that was shed on Calvary's cross has the power to cleanse from sin, and it is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that the cleansing power of the Blood is applied.

Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh. It is His sacrificial death on the cross that provides salvation for any lost sinner who will trust in Him as the only Savior and the only way to Heaven. When we genuinely believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose again bodily from the tomb, and that all this was done to provide a perfect salvation for sinful man, then we receive full forgiveness of sins and the gift of everlasting life.

True Christianity is not about attending a particular church, or how your parents raised you, or what country you were born in. Being a Christian means that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that He is your Savior. It's not good enough that your priest, pastor, mother, or aunt knows Jesus, you must know Him for yourself. They cannot believe in Him for you, you must believe for yourself. They cannot repent for you, you must repent for yourself.

Yes, my friend, the moment you believe (and believing is nothing more nor less than taking God at His Word), you receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life! Therefore, you now stand before God complete and perfect in Christ's righteousness and not in your own self-righteousness which is but "filthy rags" in His sight. When you receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior by faith, you are "...made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). "To declare...His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus" (Romans 3:26).

Do not be deceived by the widespread belief that no one can be absolutely certain as to whether or not he has truly been "saved" or "born-again." God says we can know, and this is because God's salvation is based upon the sure promises of God's Word and upon the finished work of Christ on the cross. The believer is told in 1 John 5:11-13 that he can know for certain that he has passed from death unto life and that his sins have been forever forgiven:
"And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

"Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them" (Hebrews 7:25).

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" (John 10:28).

Would you like to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior right now? If so, then trust Him, and Him alone.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,  and thy house.

Jesus says the way to be saved is to believe ON Him... you cannot work for it... if we could, then Jesus would not have had to come and do what He did for us.

Once you have been saved...

It is important for you to start to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Just like any relationship, you need to spend time with someone if you want to know them well. The way to know God is through the Bible. We have a few different Bible studies here that
will help you get going. It's also important to find a church you can attend where they teach the Bible. This will allow you to talk with a pastor who will help explain questions you might have, and it will give you a chance to spend time with other Christians who can encourage you.

You can start to study the Bible by going through the New Believers Booklet. After that, we'd recommend that you start a Bible study through the Gospel of John. It  would also benefit you to join a bible study.  There is nothing like a real bible study with real christian fellowship! Go to your local churches, ask around for where and when is there a bible study in your area! Please, make sure any church you attend, or do bible study with is a bible believing, bible teaching church!
