Once Saved Always Saved!
But What About The Disobedient?Isaiah 49:
14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath
forgotten me.
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have
compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet
will I not forget thee.
Satan's Subtle Way Of Corrupting God's Eternal,
Loving Gift Of Free Salvation (Genesis 3:5)Many teach that a Christian can lose salvation in eternity. (Catholic, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Jehovah Witness, Methodist, Seventh-Day adventist, Assembly of God, Church of Christ, to name a few) Sadly, this teaching gives these professing believers no assurance that God will always love them. To them, the gift of Jesus was worthy enough to cover past sins, but unable to atone completely. These people desire God to get them started by grace, but then they seem to want God to turn them loose on their own: "Bring me the reins and I'll ride! I'll stay on the saddle and keep my salvation!" They do not see how this is salvation through works. This despises the victory that Christ won. It takes one's eyes off of Jesus. According to the implications of this teaching, God should have never sent His Son to be spit upon and die. He should have just sent His Holy Spirit. All the world needed was a kick-start. All the world's religions teach that man earns and keeps salvation by such good deeds.
Those that teach salvation can be lost are not experiencing the
unconditional gift of God's eternal love. To them God is not a loving Father. Although a Father would punish a child for playing in the street, no loving father would tell his child: "If you walk out in the street and die, or get lost forever, so be it," much less... "I will torture you for trillions of years and add eternity to that, if you rebel." It would be wrong to deny that God will punish His rebellious children in fury and wrath. (Hebrews 10:30) God punishes sin in His people in this life and the next. Yet it is insane horror to conclude that one must perform constantly to stay God's child in eternity. This is unbiblical bondage that no man can bear. Christ's death purchased a greater salvation than this bondage of works. It was good enough to cover all sins, past, present and future. In fact, all sins committed today were future to the Cross of Christ. It is finished! Believe it. Sins may result in temporary punishment, or loss of fellowship, yet they may never separate the child from God for all eternity.A loving father may punish, restrict, or even cast off, yet he would
never deny his child totally. How could one trust God in times of trial, if one is not sure one is eternally loved by God? Many of these professing believers will end up angry at God, bitter, and with no hope: "If God will not give a free salvation that can't be lost, why should I expect God to freely give me power to live holy in times of temptation and trial? Perhaps I have already lost salvation and God is against me. Or perhaps I could be working now for my future Enemy, if one day my works are not found good enough by Him."It would be reasonable to use the verses that speak of eternal
security to interpret the warnings of punishment. In this way, the
Parental love of God, His grace, and His free salvation are not horribly contradicted: "You are saved by free grace, but of course you have to work or you will burn for all eternity...It's free but not really! Work, or die in eternity!" That is not the free, unconditional Gospel through the Blood of Jesus Christ.Once Saved Always Saved
Psalms 89:
28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant
shall stand fast with him.
29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as
the days of heaven.
30 If his children forsake my law, and walk no in my
judgements;
31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their
iniquity with stripes.
33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from
him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone
out of my lips.Psalms 103:9
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.John 10:28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.John 6:
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all
which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise
it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which
seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:
and I will raise him up at the last day.Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but
according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;(See 2 Timothy 1:9, 1 Corinthians 1:2)
If Salvation Can Be Totally Lost, Why Do These Rebel Christians Get Restored Again After Their Punishment?
Luke 12:
47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not
himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with
many stripes.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes,
shall be beaten with few stipes..1 Corinthians 3:15
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he
himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.Matthew 5:26
Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence,
till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.Matthew 18:
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors,
till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye
from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their
trespasses.Revelation 20:
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and
hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were
judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the
second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life
was cast into the lake of fire.(People are found written in the Book of Life after the 1000 year Kingdom, who had missed this kingdom. (Rev.20:4-6) And they get their tears wiped away.(Rev.21:1,4)
God will punish His children harshly. Rebellious Christians can
miss the 1000 year Kingdom of God and spend that time in the
outer darkness of Hell. Yet no Christian will ever experience the
final Lake of Fire in eternity. This makes God a Father to fear.
However, God is still a loving Father. His goodness is not
contradicted. Salvation in eternity is free by faith alone in Christ's
death. Yet, salvation into the Kingdom of reward and glory is
based upon our service. If a child were to be adopted into a loving
man's house, the child must come free. No works from the child
could earn or keep the unconditional love of the father. Yet once
a child, there would be rules and chores.
If the child was found obedient he would be rewarded. If he was
slothful, he would be severely punished. Those that teach final salvation can be lost, have actually
lowered the standard of holiness. In one sense they fear God
less: They teach that as long as one is still saved, there is no
danger for a few willful sins. One has to curse Jesus, become a
devil worshipper or completely backslide to get punished after
death. Fornication, drunkenness, adultery, divorce, etc. are all
permitted, as long as one repents or gets saved again. These
people do not realize that if they believe in the free grace of God,
they are forever saved in eternity. Yet, God can harshly punish
His children for not witnessing, foolish jesting, anger without a
cause and looking at a woman to lust, etc. (Matthew 5:10)
Therefore, those that teach that salvation can be totally lost, "sin
so grace may abound." They give themselves a giant cushion
before having to fear salvation is lost. God gives His children no
such margin of error:Hebrew 10:
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge
of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery
indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or
three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be
thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and
hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was
sanctified, and unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the
Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto
me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall
judge his people.
